Ms. Charmaine CARVALHO

Charmaine Carvalho is a PhD candidate at the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing at Hong Kong Baptist University. Working at the intersection of literary and cultural studies, her research interests are gender studies, feminism, popular culture and the construction of selfhood. She has recently submitted a dissertation on the self-construction of the “single woman in the city” in Indian chick lit novels. Her paper “Chick Lit in India: Possibilities for a Feminine Aesthetic in Popular Fiction” was recently published in The Polish Journal of Aesthetics.
